It was a casual Friday morning. Wrapping up all my loose ends in time for the weekend when I received a WhatsApp message from my Mum. It was a picture of Haringey’s People Magazine with my image on the front cover! She had just received her copy through her front door.

For context, this is a magazine I’ve received through my front door for as long as I can remember. Instantly, emotions of happiness and excitement washed over me. My image is on the front cover of the borough that fundamentally raised me’s magazine. To be recognised for my work and from a passion project that took place nearly two years ago – as a photographer, this is a pretty great feeling.

I am so insanely proud of Delena Thompson, who’s book ‘I am Not My Hair’, her online affirmations and general fabulousness is making waves not only in our local community, but on social media too.
